Black Tabby Watercolour

Painting this tabby cat was a lesson in letting go. Watercolour has a mind of its own, especially on this handmade paper. It’s very unpredictable. I used black watercolour on the damp surface and then watched as the paint wandered, doing its own thing. It created soft, flowing textures as it spread through the fibres of the paper. I really like the effect.

He’s available in the watercolour cats gallery.
